Our
Projects

As we increase engagement with our community over mental health, a generally stigma heavy topic, we retain positive outlooks through volunteering and hosting socials. More specifically, our socials have combined aspects of writing therapy, movie therapy, and art therapy. As we continue with our journey, we are looking forward to future volunteer plans such as mental health poetry readings, zoom panels with guest speakers, our podcast, and so much more! November 9th, 2024- OUT OF THE DARKNESS WALK

This was an event hosted by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Our tasks included working the photoshoot station, planting awareness signs and photos of victims in the Blue Hearts Garden, and organizing colored honor beads meant to signify participants' connection to the event's significance: loss of a family member, friend, first responder, supporting someone or themselves who are struggling with personal attempts, and more. The event served as a powerful reminder that we never know what goes on behind closed doors.

November 21st, 2024- INSIDE OUT 2 MOVIE NIGHT SOCIAL

We did a movie showing of Inside Out 2. Additionally, we provided snacks, drinks, and art supplies to create affirmation drawings and cards to incorporate art and writing therapy. Afterward, participants had the option to gain HOSA volunteer hours through completing a Google Form listing short response answers relating Inside Out 2 to real life situations.

December 13th, 2024- STRESS BALL WORKSHOP

  • In collaboration with Klein High Red Cross Club, we hosted a Christmas social that included our Stress Ball Workshop.

  • Notably, we introduced an informative presentation that we created over the symptoms of anxiety and depression, the difference between high-functioning depression and major depressive disorder, and the benefits of art therapy.

  • We had so much fun making stress balls, allowing participants to enjoy crafts and alleviate stress! This was our most popular event, including both a potluck and raffle.
